Contingency plans activated as 259 SPM candidates affected by floods

The Education Ministry has activated contingency plans to support Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidates affected by the floods, said Education director-general Dr Mohd Azam Ahmad. After visiting SMK Putrajaya Presint 11(1) on Tuesday (Nov 25), Dr Mohd Azam said 259 candidates had been affected as of 5pm Monday, but all were either relocated to safer accommodation or assisted by government agencies to reach their exam centres. He added that the ministry began flood-risk mapping as early as September to identify students living in flood-prone areas or near rivers.
