Shark net wall to protect beachgoers in South Africa
Описание
Cape Town is developing a shark net curtain that would protect the public from an increase in shark attacks along the beach at Fish Hoek. At nearly 300 meters long, the mesh netting will be dropped and collected daily to ensure that both the general public and the great white sharks of Cape Town get to enjoy the beach. The calls for this new net-wall comes amid an increase in shark attacks along the South African beach. Boats drop the net into the water each morning. With moorings attached at either side, the net drops to the bottom of the beach, creating a curtain of sorts. Exclusion nets are used in other parts of the world, including Hong Kong, but they are permanent additions to public beaches, giving marine life little to room to maneuver in covered areas.
