Fighting has spread into another area crucial to the Syrian government. Neighbourhoods in and on the outskirts of Aleppo are the latest to be engulfed in conflict. Aleppo is a key bastion of the Assad clan. There's also been heavy fighting again in Homs, as Jane Ferguson reports.
