Annan hails 'constructive' talks with Assad

International envoy Kofi Annan has said he agreed with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on an approach to end Syria's conflict that would be put to the rebels. Annan said talks with Assad in the Damascus on Monday were constructive and candid , echoing Syrian foreign ministry spokesman Jihad Makdissi who described the meeting as constructive and good .
