Large waves slam Catanduanes as super typhoon nears Large waves slam into the Philippine island of Catanduanes as Super Typhoon Uwan (international name Fung-wong) bears down on the region. The swirling storm has a radius spanning nearly the entirety of the Philippines and is expected to make landfall late Sunday as a super typhoon.
