Video: Ukraine carries out historic strike, downs Russian fighter jet with naval drone in the Black Sea

In an unprecedented operation, Ukrainian special forces have become the first in the world to destroy a combat aircraft using a naval drone. The strike, carried out on May 2, 2025, targeted a Russian Su-30SM multirole fighter, which was shot down over the Black Sea by an unmanned Magura maritime drone equipped with an R-73 infrared-guided surface-to-air missile. The operation was conducted by soldiers from Group 13, a special unit of the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense, in cooperation with the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and other Defense Forces.
