Political leaders have responded to claims by Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim that he has “strong and formidable” support of majority MPs to take over as Prime Minister to form the next government. Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he was informed that some Umno and Barisan Nasional MPs had expressed their support for Anwar. Zahid said he respects these MPs’ stand and Umno will not stop them from backing Anwar.
