Snow causes crash and M1 closure near East Midlands Airport

Heavy snow caused traffic misery as a two-vehicle crash closed the M1 southbound at Junction 25, near East Midlands Airport in the UK, on Monday afternoon (February 10). The incident was then reduced to a one-lane closure once the snow had past. Highways England tweeted: #Nottinghamshire #Derbyshire please be aware almost 10 miles of congestion remains on the #M1 southbound between J27 #Felley and J24A #A50 adding at least 60 minutes to normal journey times. Full capacity has seen been restored.
