UK oil refinery in flames after ‘explosion’

A blaze has broken out at an oil refinery in Cheshire after a reported explosion. Flames and thick black smoke are seen rising into the sky above Essar Oil’s 20,000-barrel refinery in Ellesmere Port this afternoon (August 22). Fire engines from five locations are on the scene, Cheshire fire service said.
