Swimmer braves icy-cold waters of Lake Windermere

This intrepid swimmer plunged into icy waters in Lake Windemere, north-west England, this morning. Lauren, 23, is from Kendal in Cumbria. She's a triathlete who trains year-round and uses Lake Windermere to swim in whatever the weather. But with water temperatures of around 3 degrees C and air temperature of minus 2, she did at least keep a woolly hat on while in the water. A large cold front, popularly called the Beast From The East, has brought snow, ice and cold winds across much of the UK.
