Allowances up for speaker and senate president

The government has approved an increase in allowances for the Parliament speaker, senate president and their deputies. It has been 29 years since the last hike and will take effect from May 1 this year, according to a statute paper issued to MPs today. Notable increases include the speaker's and senate president's entertainment allowance, up from RM7,000 to RM9,860. Full story here.
