A lot of people in Thailand have taken issue with Fai's victory over favorites Pimbongkod Ellie Chankaew and Sunnanipa Namphet Krissanasuwan, who were named the first and second runners-up, respectively. Fai is being criticised in Thailand for being too chubby and has even been compared to Godzilla. One hater wrote: That's one fat pageant girl. How could she win? Her comments on Thailand's turbulent politics have also been criticized. After scouring Fai's social media accounts, netizens found that she had made scathing comments against pro-government Red Shirt activists. In November the 22-year-old wrote on Facebook, I'm so angry at these evil activists. They should all be executed. The new Miss Universe Thailand apologised on Monday, saying that she made inappropriate comments when she was young.
